Jason Goessl

Jason Goessl is a versatile and sought-after guitarist known for his ability to move seamlessly between genres—jazz, country, indie, Brazilian, surf, and even metal. Originally from a small village in eastern Wisconsin, he became an accomplished jazz guitarist by age 17. His musical journey has taken him across the country, from studying at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire—where he performed alongside jazz legends like Michael Brecker and Charlie Byrd—to making a name for himself in Minneapolis, where he gigged extensively and earned the prestigious Visiting Composers Award for his avant-garde piece, Three Philosophers in a Landscape.

In 2001, Goessl moved to Seattle, quickly becoming one of the city’s most in-demand guitarists. He performed on Band in Seattle with four different groups, toured nationally and internationally, and built a reputation as both a virtuosic player and a fearless musical explorer. His work with his wife, vocalist Kate Voss, in their award-winning duo Sundae + Mr. Goessl, cemented their place in the jazz and vintage pop world.

In 2021, Jason and Kate returned to Wisconsin, settling in downtown Oshkosh, where they launched Sun Goose Records, opened TRS Recording Studios, and co-founded Can Can, a bar and boutique celebrating music and art. Jason remains an active touring musician, performing nationally and locally with Kate Voss & The Hot Sauce and his doom jazz project, The Son Reis Project. Under the moniker Relaxatone, he produces relaxation music, adding yet another dimension to his creative output. He is also deeply involved in the Fox Valley jazz scene, frequently sitting in with local jazz groups and leading his own ensemble, Jason & The Jazzerknots.

Whether performing at a jazz club, crafting ethereal soundscapes, or producing records for fellow artists, Jason Goessl approaches music with a deep sense of curiosity, passion, and technical mastery. His journey has been one of constant exploration, and wherever he goes, his indelible sound follows.
