Drum & Drone Volume I by Relaxatone

Ambient-Downtempo-Medicinal

This new collaboration between guitarist Jason Goessl and drummer Adrian Van Batenburg explores new territories in the world of psychedelic ambient sounds. Deviating from the indica effects of the original Relaxatone works, “Drum & Drone” Volume 1 offers an elevated approach to focus music with a strong sativa influence on forward thinkers, entrepreneurs, and students of all ages.

Artist Statement:

I wanted to create an offshoot of my Relaxtone project by collaborating with drummer, Adrian Van Batenburg. While Relaxtone’s main objective is relaxation, I wanted to offer a new perspective with this variation of “Drum & Drone” making this the perfect music to use for focus, working out, or studying. Elevating the rhythms and beats has added to the medicinal effects in a slightly different way than ambient guitar alone giving this music a more ambitious and motivating quality.

About Relaxatone:

Drum & Drone: Vol 1 is a collection of collaborative works between Jason Goessl of Relaxatone and Seattle drummer/percussionist/composer Adrian Van Batenburg. In this new series, healing/restorative music is created by using open guitar tunings synced to Ancient Solfeggio Frequencies combined with intentional rhythmic beats to produce an active new genre: “Psychedelic Ambient”. Goessl created the signature Relaxatone vibe back in 2020 with the intention of relieving stress and trauma in the face of difficult times. The curative qualities of this frequency-based music has been recognized all over the world and Relxatone has since seen its share of success in the medicinal music scene with many of his tracks being used for yoga classes, reiki and physical therapy. Van Batenburg is a consistent performer in the Pacific Northwest music community across multiple musical genres. Using his incredible talents for good, he gains influences from jazz, pop music, and African rhythms as a basis for his variety of performances. While the drumset is his primary instrument where he creates a wide range of sounds and emotions (like with legendary instrumental supergroup Gems), auxiliary percussion instruments provide him with textures needed to enhance his musical expression and the listener’s experience.
