City Lights (Single) by Double or Muffin

Indie Rock | Post Punk

Album Description:
The artificial gloaming of the urban night reflects coldly off the clouds. Who hasn’t gazed up in vain, thinking back to a time and place in which the milk-spill of stars across the sky made the name of our home galaxy self-evident. City Lights, the new single by Seattle band Double or Muffin, explores this near universal experience in tones of melancholy and longing, giving way to an urgent need to escape to the countryside, if only in one’s mind. Ostinato bass pulses like a foghorn through the opaque mist, giving way to unrelenting guitars as flight becomes an imperative. Like each song from their upcoming full-length album Seeded, City Lights was composed and recorded, together yet separate, over the course of one day. Their traditional method of real-time writing, together through improvisation, was tweaked to be slightly less real-time yet preserve the togetherness and spontaneity that defines their sound. The result is an expansion of texture and arrangement vocabulary while staying true to a human core of lively, naive and at-times risky experimentation.

About Doubel or Muffin

Double or Muffin is a four-piece rock band based in Seattle, WA, featuring Austin Hunter on vocals, Colin J Nelson on drums, Jack Nelson on bass and Paul Beaudry on guitar. All close friends and siblings, the group began gathering for no-rules improvisational exploration in the early 2010s, and never stopped. In 2017 they decided to start learning some of their favorite creations to play in public. In the years since they have played many lovely venues (and non-venues) around the Pacific Northwest, while continuing to record new jams for the vault (estimated at well over one-thousand songs, no one currently knows for sure). 2019 saw the release of their self-titled debut album. They are beyond excited to introduce their latest offering, Seeded, in August 2025.
